The goal of ERTDX is to provide any point of sale with a visual menu that can be modified in a couple of clicks from a computer or mobile device, without the need for a programmer. Everything is implemented in the simplest and most understandable way: no detailed instructions or training are required; anyone can use this system and understand its functionality in a few minutes. Below, we see how the system works.
After logging in, you access the configuration administration page. In the current version of the project (V1.00), it is possible to use one or two displays. Each display can be configured with a 4×2, 6×2, or 6×3 layout (additional configurations will be available in the future), and for each display, you can manage the time it takes for a logo to scroll across the screen and, most importantly, the page refresh interval to load any menu changes. Below the button that applies changes, there is also a button that takes you to that specific display’s configuration.
Below this section is the mobile section. In fact, one of the important features of this application is the ability to have a web page accessible from a mobile device, useful for users who want to view the menu from home or a table. The administrator can choose which display to show on this mobile web page (one, both, or neither).
It is also possible to choose whether to display a “WEB” button that links to an external site by entering the corresponding link (for example, a corporate site or social profile) and a custom header to display on the mobile web page. It is important to remember that this page can be embedded in your own website, but it is not mandatory: you can simply use the link provided by ERTDX. Pressing the “APPLY” button saves the changes, which take effect immediately.
Below this section is the management of the menu images and the logo that scrolls during page refresh. On the first access, it will be necessary to configure these pages, because initially the site will be pre-loaded only with example images. This section is used exclusively when you need to modify the base images or add new ones.
By accessing the “MANAGE PICTURES” page, you can upload, delete, or rename the images that will appear in the menu. Only images in WebP, PNG, JPG, and JPEG formats up to 5 MB in size are allowed (so as not to slow down the system too much). The page automatically recognizes the image format and preserves it.
Similarly, the logo image for the animation can also be uploaded, but before doing so, it is necessary to remove the one currently present.
From the main administration page, each display can be managed quickly by clicking the “GO TO DISPLAY 1” and “GO TO DISPLAY 2” buttons. The preview pages of how the content will appear to the customer will open. In each section, you can select from the uploaded images, which are listed alphabetically. Each image has five options: the one without any label remains as the original image; the others, depending on the selection, can display a watermark for “finished,” “new,” “in preparation,” or “on promotion.” In the future, improved graphics may be adopted based on customer feedback.
In this way, the selected images will be visible on the displays, with the logo scrolling across the screen and triggering the refresh at the set interval.
Of course, the mobile web page will also be available, showing the selected images. The number of images will automatically vary based on the configuration chosen on the administration page: for example, if only one display with a 4×2 layout is selected, 8 items will be shown; if two displays are selected—one with a 6×2 layout and one with a 6×3 layout—12 + 18 = 30 items will be shown.
